Treatments for Hemiplegia (Pakshaghata)
Loss of strength of one side of the body leading to decreased functioning of the same side it maybe right or left sided.
Hemiplegia is a neurological disease, causing paralysis of the muscles of lower face, arm, leg on one side of the body. Damage to the central nervous system is the major cause of hemiplegia
Hemiplegia is the commonest manifestation of a ‘stroke’ with neurological deficit affecting the face, limbs and trunk on one side or either side of the body. Impulses for voluntary movement are transmitted by the pyramidal tracts or upper motor neurons. Damage to these pyramidal tracts due to any lesion, trauma, ischemia or hemorrhage produces paralysis. In Ayurveda, it can be correlated with ‘Pakshaghata’. When Vata getting aggravated, dries up the
Srotas and Snayu (tendons) of one side (half) of the body, makes the organ/ parts of that side incapable of functioning and loss of sensation.

Line of Treatment:
Cleanse the body using Panchakarma Procedures like Snehapana, Abhyanga & Sweda followed by Virechana which detoxifies the body and prepares it for Further treatment.
Special procedures like Pizhichil ,Navarakizhi , Mamsa Kizhi etc is done to rejuvenate the nervousness system and bring it slowly to normal working condition
In order to improve the speech special procedures such as Jihwa Lepana , Gandoosha, Kavala Graha is done
Special Procedures to the eyes like Netra Tarpana,Netra Dhara, Puta Paka etc are done
Specific Basti s are given as per the requirement of the Patient
Nervous Relaxant therapies such Shirodhara, Shiro Basti, shiro Pichu,Thalapothichil etc
